14 Best Heart Centres and Cardiology Departments in Thailand
Compare heart centres and cardiology departments in Thailand: catheter labs, cardiac surgery, 24-hour heart attack cover and published check-up prices. Check services, staff, fees and availability with each provider before you book.
Heart services range from cardiology clinics offering ECG, echo and stress tests to centres with catheter labs, rhythm treatment and cardiac surgery.
Only some hospitals publish a 24-hour catheterisation laboratory; if you have a heart condition, find the nearest one before you need it.
Published heart check-up packages differ widely in content, from an ECG alone to a CT coronary angiogram, so compare the tests, not only the price.
With chest pain or other heart attack symptoms, call 1669 rather than booking a clinic.

How to compare heart centres and cardiology departments in Thailand
Heart care in Thailand ranges from a check-up with an exercise test to catheter procedures, rhythm treatments and open-heart surgery. Most of it is delivered by the cardiology departments of large hospitals, and a few hospitals run a dedicated heart hospital or centre with its own catheterisation laboratories and surgical team.
What matters most depends on why you are looking. For a planned check-up, the content and price of the package and who reviews the results count most. For a known heart condition, it is the specialists, the procedures the centre performs and the cover it has at night. This guide is general information, not medical advice.
Emergencies come first
The World Health Organization lists the usual warning signs of a heart attack as pain or discomfort in the centre of the chest, pain in the arms, left shoulder, jaw or back, and breathlessness, nausea, light-headedness or a cold sweat. If you or someone with you has these symptoms in Thailand, call 1669, the free national medical emergency number, rather than booking a clinic.
If you have a heart condition, find out in advance which nearby hospital publishes a 24-hour cardiac catheterisation laboratory and save its emergency line. A heart centre with excellent planned services may not be the nearest place that can open a blocked artery at 3am.
What a heart centre does
Published services usually fall into a few groups. Diagnosis covers the electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, exercise stress test, Holter monitoring and CT coronary angiography. Interventional cardiology covers coronary angiography and angioplasty with stents. Electrophysiology treats rhythm problems with ablation, pacemakers and implantable defibrillators. Cardiothoracic surgery covers bypass and valve operations, and some centres list structural procedures such as transcatheter valve replacement.
Check that the specific procedure you need is listed for the branch you will use, not only for the hospital group.
Catheter procedures: coronary angiography, balloon angioplasty and stents
Rhythm care: ablation, pacemakers and defibrillators
Surgery: coronary bypass and valve repair or replacement
Doctors, accreditation and certifications
Ask for the name of the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon who will treat you and check their licence and recorded specialty on the Medical Council of Thailand's public lookup. Hospital accreditation, either Thailand's HA, whose public search shows certificate dates, or Joint Commission International, shows that the hospital's systems are inspected; some hospitals also publish JCI programme certifications for conditions such as acute coronary syndrome. Confirm the dates are current.
Heart check-up packages
Many hospitals publish heart check-up packages with a fixed price. Compare what each includes rather than the headline price: some add a CT calcium score or CT coronary angiography, others stop at an ECG, echocardiogram and exercise test. Ask whether a cardiologist reviews the results with you, whether contrast or sedation costs extra, and what happens if a test finds something that needs follow-up.
Costs, insurance and second opinions
Catheter procedures and surgery are usually quoted as an estimate, because the final bill depends on what is found, the number of stents or devices used and the length of stay. Ask for a written estimate, which items are billed separately and what deposit is required. If you are insured, ask your insurer to confirm a guarantee of payment before a planned procedure; the UK travel advice notes that hospitals require one before treatment.
For a recommendation of major surgery, a second opinion is reasonable. Ask for copies of your angiogram images, echocardiogram and reports so another cardiologist can review them.
After a procedure
Ask how long you will stay, when it is safe to fly, which medicines you will need and for how long, and who will follow you up. Some centres publish cardiac rehabilitation programmes. If you are returning home, ask for a medical report in English and copies of imaging for your own doctor.
Questions to ask before you book
Which cardiologist or surgeon will carry out my procedure, and how can I check their registration?
Is the catheterisation laboratory available 24 hours for heart attacks?
Is the procedure I need performed at this branch, and how often?
Is cardiac surgery available on site if a catheter procedure has complications?
What exactly does the heart check-up package include, and what costs extra?
Will a cardiologist go through the results with me in person?
Can you give me a written estimate, including devices, stents and the hospital stay?
What deposit is needed, and can you bill my insurer directly?
Will I receive copies of my angiogram images and a report in English?
When will I be fit to fly, and who follows me up after I go home?
Warning signs
Pressure to agree to a procedure on the day of a check-up without time to consider it or seek a second opinion.
No named doctor, or a doctor who cannot be found on the Medical Council's lookup.
A 'package' price for a procedure with no written list of what is excluded.
Accreditation or certification claims with no awarding body or expired dates.
Reluctance to release imaging and reports for another cardiologist to review.
Which heart centres publish a 24-hour catheterisation lab?
Among those compared here, Bumrungrad lists 24-hour emergency cardiac catheterisation, Phyathai 2 a 24-hour cath lab, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya a 24-hour cath lab, Bangkok Hospital Phuket round-the-clock emergency angioplasty and Chiangmai Ram a 24-hour cardiac balloon centre. Confirm with the hospital before relying on it.
How much does a heart check-up cost in Thailand?
Published prices on the hospitals' own pages range from under 1,000 baht for an ECG package to around 30,000 baht for packages with a CT coronary angiogram or stress echocardiogram. Check what is included, whether a cardiologist reviews the results and whether the price applies to foreign visitors.
Do all heart centres perform surgery?
No. Some cardiology departments offer tests and consultations only and refer patients for angioplasty or surgery. Ask where you would be treated if a test shows a blocked artery or valve disease.
How can I check a cardiologist's credentials?
Ask for the doctor's full name and check their licence and recorded specialty on the Medical Council of Thailand's public lookup.
