About
Bumrungrad opened in 1980 as a 200-bed facility and moved into its current 580-bed building in 1997. The hospital says it sees more than 1.1 million patients a year from over 190 countries.
It states that it was the first hospital in Asia to be accredited by Joint Commission International, in 2002, and that it has been re-accredited seven times since. Its emergency, appointment and ambulance line, 1378, runs around the clock for calls within Thailand.
Published centres include a robotic surgery centre, a genomic medicine centre, the VitalLife wellness centre and a Women's Center covering gynaecology, prenatal care and delivery. International patients are supported by a medical coordination office and referral offices; the hospital says it employs more than 130 interpreters and charges local and international patients the same prices.
Hospitals
Bumrungrad is a 580-bed private hospital on Sukhumvit Soi 3 organised around a large overseas caseload. It reports more than 1.1 million patients a year from over 190 countries, and more than 1,500 doctors across over 115 subspecialties.
The Emergency Center, on the ground floor of Building B (South Wing), runs 24 hours with emergency physicians and a surgical team on site. The hospital also lists a licensed heliport, round-the-clock emergency cardiac catheterisation, a neonatal intensive care transport team and an aviation medical evacuation team. Centres it highlights include robotic surgery, genomic medicine and the VitalLife wellness centre.
The Medical Coordination Office, on the 10th floor of the BIC Building, gives treatment price estimates, deals with insurers and embassies, and arranges evacuation, repatriation and fit-to-fly paperwork. It may suit visitors who want a large campus used to coordinating care from abroad, and who value its stated policy of charging local and international patients the same prices.

Dental Clinics
Bumrungrad's Dental Center is on the third floor of the South Wing in Building B and is open every day from 08:00 to 20:00. The hospital says it has more than 55 specialist dentists, and its directory lists dentists in implant dentistry, oral medicine, oral radiology, geriatric dentistry and craniofacial prosthetics as well as the main specialties.
The published scope runs from children's dentistry and root canal treatment to dentures and implants, orthodontics, veneers, gum treatment, jaw-joint care and oral and maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic (jaw) surgery. The hospital's implant FAQ describes waiting about 90 days for the lower jaw and 180 days for the upper jaw before the implant-supported teeth are made, which shapes how many trips implant treatment takes.
No dental fees are published; the hospital states it has one pricing system for patients of all nationalities. The centre may suit patients who need complex or surgical dental work, or whose medical history makes a hospital setting reassuring.

On the medical side, VitalLife lists acne, allergic contact dermatitis, birthmarks, burns, corns, dandruff, melasma, moles and hair loss, with LED light therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for hair. Bumrungrad's Behavioral Health Center offers two routes. Psychiatrists (14 are listed, two with geriatric psychiatry) diagnose and treat depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, phobias, OCD, insomnia and alcohol or drug use with medication, psychotherapy and CBT, which can include take-home assignments. A neurological assessment is arranged when a physical cause is suspected.
The second route is counselling without medication with a psychologist, for stress and burnout, early-stage low mood, relationship and family issues and stress-related sleep problems. The listed psychologist holds an MA in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, works in Thai and English, and can be booked by telehealth. Groups named include adolescents, couples, pregnant and postpartum women, carers and older people.
The centre says counselling is not suitable for severe or complex conditions, anyone at risk of harming themselves or others, or anyone who needs medication; they should see a psychiatrist directly. Fees are not published.

Bumrungrad offers egg freezing by vitrification at –196°C. It presents it for women not yet ready for parenthood, for those with conditions that can speed the loss of eggs such as SLE or endometriosis, and for those facing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery on the ovaries.
The published steps are a consultation and examination, stimulation injections starting around day 2 or 3 of the cycle, three to four monitoring visits, an egg collection of about 30 minutes, and freezing in the laboratory. The hospital says frozen eggs can in theory be kept indefinitely but advises using them within 10 years, and that they are later fertilised with sperm from the patient's legal spouse.
